Motul Team RJN set for Monza Blancpain race

MILAN, Italy – Motul Team RJN's race at the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup begins this weekend with the team's pair of Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 entries leaving the UK today for the Autodromo Nazionale Monza near Milan in Italy.

The team will run two cars in the Endurance Cup in 2017 with Nissan factory drivers Katsumasa Chiyo, Alex Buncombe and Lucas Ordóñez leading the charge on board the No. 23 Nissan.

The team's second car will be driven by Brits Struan Moore and Matt Parry alongside Australian GT Academy winner Matt Simmons.

After a strong performance at the recent pre-season test at Circuit Paul Ricard, the team enters this weekend's opening round in a positive mood with its sights set to reclaiming the championship Nissan earned in the Endurance Cup in 2015.

"We need to start off Monza well, and I think it is important to kick off the season on a strong note," said Buncombe. "If we can have a podium there, that would be great. We qualified second fastest at Monza last year, so we're heading back to a track where the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 has traditionally been quite strong. Having the NISMO TV live stream and the on board camera in our car is great for the fans. I do go back and watch the on board stuff after the race to watch our starts and restarts and look at where we could have made some more positions. You get an idea as to whether you got on the throttle in the right place and I find you can learn quite a lot."

The team's two cars will hit the track for practice and pre-qualifying on Saturday, April 22, with qualifying and the race scheduled for Sunday, April 23.

Both qualifying and the race will be streamed live on NISMO.TV on YouTube.
