Nissan and INFINITI announce sales results for May, 2019

In China, Nissan continued to outperform the sluggish market for the past 10 consecutive months despite a slight decline of its China and passenger vehicle business in the first five months of 2019, down 0.4% from a year earlier to 587,197 vehicles and 2.2% to 481,613 vehicles, respectively. The light commercial vehicle business – Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) – in the past five months sold 92,260 vehicles, representing an increase of 13.2% from a year earlier.

In the U.S., Nissan Group announced total sales for May 2019 of 131,983 units, an increase of 0.1 percent compared to the prior year. Nissan highlights include: Sales of the Armada SUV set a May record with 4,490 units sold, up 103%; Pathfinder SUV sales, at 7,751 units, were up 27%; and Frontier truck sales increased 8% to 7,497 units. INFINITI reported U.S. sales of 10,413 vehicles. The QX80 full-size sport utility vehicle, up 57% to 1,760, had its best May ever.

In Canada, Nissan Group announced total sales of 14,377 units sold for May 2019, its best May ever and an increase of 1.4% year-over-year. The Nissan Division also set a sales record with 13,477 vehicles, an increase of 1.8% from 2018. INFINITI reported total Canadian sales of 900 units sold, a decrease of 4.7% from 2018.
