BARCELONA, Spain – GT Sport Motul Team RJN drivers Lucas Ordóñez and Alex Buncombe were honored last weekend in Barcelona to celebrate their incredible Nissan careers.

Ordóñez and Buncombe are both celebrating 10 years of Nissan competition in 2018. Their success was celebrated in a presentation made by Nissan's global motorsport director, Michael Carcamo, alongside the entire GT Sport Motul Team RJN team. Stephane Ratel, SRO Chairman, was also on hand for the presentation.

Ordóñez career began with Nissan when he won the first edition of Nissan PlayStation GT Academy in 2008.  Through the first running of the "gamer-to-racer" competition, Ordóñez won a drive at the Dubai 24-hour aboard a Nissan 370Z. From there he moved to GT4 Cup where he continued to impress for Nissan.

He scored a podium on debut, took two victories during the year and finished the season as runner-up in the championship. From there, Ordóñez continued his tenure with Nissan, tackling everything from the 24 Hours of Le Mans where he finished on the podium in LMP2, a Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Pro-Am Championship, and a stint in Japan racing in both GT300 and GT500 in Super GT. Read more about Ordóñez's career in his own words here.

Buncombe's career with Nissan began with RJN Motorsport in the GT4 European Cup where he finished third and was twice runner-up before winning the series in 2011 — the first year it was classified as the Blancpain Endurance Series. Buncombe also took the Blancpain Endurance Series crown in 2015, this time in GT3 Pro Cup.

In addition to today's presentation, Buncombe is on track this weekend in Barcelona for the final round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.  Because of a cycling injury, Ordóñez will be replaced by fellow GT Academy winner Jann Mardenborough. The Spaniard, however, will be on-site assisting the team and mentoring finalists in the Nissan GT Sport Cup European Final — Nissan and PlayStation's 2018 esports competition where the winner wins a trip to the 2018 NISMO Festival.
