REPORT ON SHAREHOLDERS' SPECIAL BENEFIT PLAN

Nissan's CO2 credit contribution to support environmental conservation

Tokyo (Dec. 10, 2008) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today completed its CO2 emission credit transaction, as proposed under the sixth item of its shareholders' special benefit plans - contribution to environmental conservation activities (participation in CO2 reduction activities).

To ensure transparency and credibility, Nissan adopted a trust scheme utilizing a certificate of beneficial interest. The purchased CO2 credits are credited to the nation, thus contributing to Japan's CO2 emission targets, as stipulated under the Kyoto Protocol. This CO2 credit scheme under its shareholders' special plan is consistent to Nissan's commitment to reduce CO2.

The details of the scheme are as below;

  1. Total number of shareholders' redemption: 4,246
  2. Emission Credit Type: Wind Power Generation Project in Rajasthan, India
  3. Amount of CO2 credit purchased: (corresponding to) 2,000 tonnes
  4. Purchasing method: (purchased as) a certificate of beneficial interest through Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation
  5. Retirement method: Transfer to a retirement account within the national registry.
