TOKYO, Japan (December 11, 2007)- The Nissan Design Forum & 'Imagination Factory' Exhibition, kicks off today in Hong Kong, bringing effectively, a close to the series of this well-received and successful event in Asia for 2007.
Working in close collaboration with the Hong Kong Design Centre, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design, the Nissan Design Forum will take place from December 11-16 2007, during the Business of Design Week (bodw) 2007, Asia's leading international conference dedicated to design, brand and innovation.
This is the first time the Nissan Design Forum has been planned to coincide with a pivotal global event to ensure optimal outreach to professionals in the design communities, students as well as design and automotive enthusiasts in Hong Kong.

Tsunehiro Kunimoto, the General Manager, Global Design Management of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. will be in Hong Kong as a guest speaker at the 'Automotive Track' of bodw on 12th December 2007. He will address the topic "Design as a strategic driver for Nissan's business growth" to an audience comprising over 300 business leaders, designers and media at the Forum.
The Nissan Design Forum will start off with an interactive workshop between six pre-selected students from the School of Design of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This workshop, which started on November 19, will provide an opportunity for students to present their design concepts and at the same time, have them appraised by Mr. Kunimoto.
In addition, another two workshop sessions dedicated to sharing the inner workings of bringing automotive designs from concept to prototype will take place with over 120 student participants. These will feature design presentations by Nissan's designers as well as a live demonstration and trial session of the clay modeling process.
As part of the Nissan Design Forum, an "Imagination Factory" exhibition will be held concurrently to showcase Nissan's design philosophy and the creative development process involved in designing a car.
This is the first time any major auto-maker is sharing the behind-the-scene works of automotive design to the public in the Hong Kong. The Nissan Design Forum, as part of Nissan's global corporate social responsibility program of promoting education and nurturing the next generation of automotive designers, is also aimed at encouraging local students to pursue a career in automotive design.
The Nissan Design Forum first premiered in Singapore in August 2006. In 2007, Nissan has brought the Nissan Design Forum to five cities in Asia including Taipei, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Bangkok. Hong Kong is the seventh city to host the Nissan Design Forum, and also the final destination for this event in Asia in 2007.
