One-two finish for Nissan Note and Serena in Japan’s January sales

Nissan NOTE e-POWER (2016)

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Two newly launched Nissan models, the Note and Serena, placed first and second in Japan’s January passenger car sales rankings (excluding minivehicles), achieving sales of 14,113 and 11,179 units respectively.

The Note also topped Japan’s sales rankings (including minivehicles) in November 2016.

Serena Highway Star

Launched on November 2, 2016, the updated Note has received widespread recognition for e-POWER, its innovative full-electric motor drive system.

The all-new Serena, which went on sale on August 24, 2016, is the first vehicle available with Nissan’s ProPILOT single-lane autonomous driving technology for highways. Additionally, the new model boasts a spacious interior and improved feature set.

Commenting on the result, Nissan Senior Vice President Asako Hoshino said: “The Note and Serena represent two important steps in implementing Intelligent Mobility, our blueprint for transforming how cars are driven, powered and integrated into wider society. January’s sales results prove that our commitment to vehicle intelligence and electrification has resonated broadly with customers, and that the landscape of the Japanese car market is changing. Nissan will continue to deliver exciting and innovative products to as many customers as possible.”

In total, three Nissan models placed among Japan’s top 10 (including minivehicles) in January: the Note, Serena and Dayz.
