Nissan to release new Serena

Nissan SERENA Function Change (2016)

YOKOHAMA, Japan (Aug. 24, 2016)- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced the start of sales for the all-new Nissan Serena minivan at Nissan dealers throughout Japan.

SERENA G

Since its debut in 1991, the Serena has evolved to become a minivan that serves both family purposes and delivers the driving pleasure that the times demand. Under the concept of “Big, Easy & Fun,” previous models have been designed and developed to offer exciting and comfortable travel to all passengers – wherever they are seated. With its spacious interior and highly-acclaimed flexible seating layout, Serena is highly evaluated in the market for years.. With hints of previous models’ DNA, the all-new Serena has an enhanced array of advanced features to help families travel more safely and comfortably.

More spacious interior
The new Serena boasts its best-in-class*1 interior volume. The interior length was extended by 180mm, giving more space between all rows of seats and boosting ride comfort for all passengers. The thinner A-Pillar and slimmer instrument cluster improve outward vision from the driver’s seat. The built-in 2nd row seatbelts greatly enhance the open space available from the 3rd row and beyond.

Enhanced utility
The all-new Serena is equipped with new features to offer impressive ease of use. For example, the new hands-free sliding doors*2 can be operated automatically in hands-free fashion by sliding your foot under the door, so children or shopping bags can stay in your arms as you open the vehicle. Dual rear doors can be opened in two different ways; with only the upper side rear door opened, you can load and unload your bags, even in tight space. Serena’s already popular seats have been further improved. Revised seat controls allow passengers of all sizes to move seats with ease, and boarding and exiting of the 3rd seat is easier than ever. In addition, super-long sliding seats*2 are new for the 2nd row, offering a variety of seat configurations.

ProPILOT, single-lane autonomous driving technology
The all-new Serena is the world’s first minivan*3 to have ProPILOT, a single-lane autonomous driving technology. Once activated, ProPILOT can automatically control the distance between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle, using a speed preset by the driver (between approximately 30 km/h and 100 km/h), and also keeps the vehicle centered in its lane. If a car in front stops, the ProPILOT system will automatically apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a full stop if necessary. After coming to a full stop, the vehicle can remain in place even if the driver's foot is off the brake pedal. When ready to resume driving, ProPILOT is activated when the driver touches the switch again or lightly presses the accelerator. All these functions can significantly reduce the driver’s stress when driving on the highway in all kinds of traffic conditions.

Serena ProPILOT Edition on sale for a limited time
For limited time only*4, Nissan is offering Nissan Serena ProPILOT Edition featuring the ProPILOT standard at an affordable price. The model includes many advanced features, such as emergency assist for pedal misapplication, hands-free automatic sliding door that makes the car easier to use, and stylish 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (2WD only).
