Datsun affirms leading performance through a challenging drive event

  • "Seseruan Sareng Datsun" aimed to test Datsun's performance through several challenges
  • Datsun recorded the fastest time, reaching 200 meters in just 9,75 seconds

BANDUNG, Indonesia – Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) recently reaffirmed the performance of the 1.2-liter, HR12DE Datsun GO+ and GO Panca engine through a media event called "Saseruan Sareng Datsun." During the event, media were invited to experience the acceleration of the car on various road conditions in Jakarta, Bandung and Subang. All of the participants drove the latest Datsun GO+ Panca and GO Panca Model Year 2016, which has several new features such as tumble seat and retractable seatbelt in the second row, outdoor antenna and silver painted C-cluster.

"The program affirms that Datsun is reliable for city and out of town trip, proved by the car's performance in taking steep climbs in Lembang and Subang areas," said head of Datsun Indonesia Indriani Hadiwidjaja. "The suspension also makes the trip even more comfortable when passing through potholes in Lembang. Moreover, Datsun is also reliable for cruising on toll road in Cipularang and Cipali, making the trip a relaxing experience."

A total of 11 Datsun GO+ Panca and GO Panca were used to conquer many challenging road conditions on Jakarta-Bandung-Lembang-Subang route during the "Seseruan Sareng Datsun" event. On the first day, participants drove from Jakarta to Lembang via Cipularang toll road to experience Datsun's powerful acceleration. The powerful acceleration is proven useful as the car overtook trucks and buses several times at Cikampek toll road, and passing through a long and fairly steep climb in Cipularang.

Meanwhile, rough and uneven roads in Bandung-Lembang-Subang route wasn't a major concern thanks to the Datsun suspension, which is designed to deal with poor road conditions with potholes, debris and gravels. The car suspension ensures a safe and comfortable driving on bumpy roads even when the vehicle is fully loaded, without significant decrease of ground clearance.

Datsun has generous legroom in the first row, allowing the driver to have a relaxed leg position without being obstructed by fender curve. In a long trip like Jakarta–Bandung, the first-row design will enhance the driver's comfort and help to prevent early fatigue. Datsun models are also equipped with adequate headrest that properly supports passenger's head and neck, ensuring appropriate driving position and optimum protection.

On the second day, participants were asked to do a Gymkhana Challenge and Mini Drag Race Challenge at Suryadarma Airbase, Subang. Guided by professional racer Jimmy Lukita, the participants had to make several maneuvers to record the fastest time, hence proving Datsun's overall performance in terms of acceleration, handling and suspension.

During Mini Drag Race 200-meter challenge that aimed to prove Datsun's acceleration performance, one of the participants successfully recorded the fastest time, reaching 200 meters in just 9.75 seconds.

"The 1.2-liter HR12DE Datsun engine has the biggest power and torque in its class," said Ardi Marohan who successfully recorded the fastest time in the Mini Drag Race Challenge. "I've experienced it first hand through these two-day activities."

Datsun History
Datsun originated in Japan as DAT-GO (the DAT-car) almost a century ago in 1914. The word DAT means ‘lightning-fast' in Japanese but is also a reference to the three financiers who supported the business at the time – namely Mssrs. Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi – an acronym of the first letter of each name. Using the same logic, it was promoted as Durable, Attractive and Trustworthy, or DAT for short.
