Nissan production, sales and export results for December and calendar year 2010

YOKOHAMA Japan (Jan. 27, 2011) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for December and the calendar year 2010.

1. Production
December

Nissan's global production in December increased 19.8% year-on-year to 351,334 units, marking an all-time record for the month of December.

Production in Japan increased 4.3% year-on-year to 91,662 units, mainly due to increased demand for export models.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 26.5% year-on-year to 259,672 units, marking an all-time record for the month of December.

In the U.S., production stood at 38,405 units. Increased production of SUV models such as Pathfinder minimized the impact from production shift of Infiniti QX56.

In Mexico, production increased 23.4% year-on-year to 39,113 units, due to increased demand for all the models led by Sentra and Tiida.

In the U.K., production increased 22.0% year-on-year to 30,660 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke and Qashqai.

In Spain, production saw a significant increase of 79.9% year-on-year to 9,249 units due to increased demand for all the models led by Primastar.

In China, production increased 21.1% year-on-year to 99,538 units due to increased demand for the new March, Teana and NV200, marking a record for the highest production volume in one month.

Production in other regions saw a significant increase of 88.1% year-on-year to 42,707 units, due to increased output in Thailand and India, where the new March/Micra is produced.

Calendar Year 2010
Nissan's global production in 2010 increased 37.3% year-on-year to 4,053,701 units, reaching a record high for the calendar year, exceeding 4,000,000 units for the first time for the calendar year.

Production in Japan increased 26.7% year-on-year to 1,133,667 units due to increased demand for Juke introduced in June and export models led by Rogue and Murano.

Overseas production increased 41.8% year-on-year to 2,920,034 units, reaching a record high for the calendar year.

Production increased in the U.S., Mexico, the U.K., Spain, China and other regions. In China, the production exceeded 1,000,000 units for the first time, marking an all-time record for a calendar year.

Production in other regions saw a huge increase of 96.8% year-on-year to 361,462 units due to increased output in India where production started in May, 2010, Thai, Indonesia, Taiwan and South Africa.

2. Sales
December

Global sales increased 16.1% year-on-year to 364,741 units, marking an all-time record for the month of December.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 34,324 units in Japan, down 20.3% year-on-year due to the impact from the termination of a government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Sales outside of Japan increased 21.9% year-on-year to 330,417 units, marking an all-time record for the month of December.

Sales in the U.S. increased 27.7% year-on-year to 93,730 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke launched in October, Sentra, Rogue, and Versa.

In Europe, sales increased 6.4% year-on-year to 47,857 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke launched in October and Qashqai.

In China, sales saw an increase of 30.1% year-on-year to 93,990 units, due to high demand for the new March introduced in August, Teana and Tiida, marking an all-time record for the month of December.

Sales in other regions increased 19.3% year-on-year to 64,988 units, due to increased demand in Thailand, Indonesia and India.

Calendar Year 2010
Global sales in 2010 increased 21.5% year-on-year to 4,080,588 units, reaching a record high for the calendar year and exceeding 4,000,000 units for the first time.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 645,320 units in Japan, up 7.7% year-on-year.

In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations in 2010 increased 7.4% year-on-year to 499,202 units, due to increased demand for new models such as Juke launched in June, Elgrand launched in August and March launched in July.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 8.7% from the previous year to 146,118 units, due to increased demand for Roox launched in December, 2009.

Sales outside of Japan increased 24.5% year-on-year to 3,435,268 units, marking an all-time record for the calendar year.

Sales increased in the U.S., Europe, China and other regions. In China, sales exceeded 1,000,000 units for the first time, reaching a record high for the calendar year.

Sales in all other regions, namely Latin America, Asia (excluding China), Oceania, Middle East and Africa, increased year-on-year. Specifically, sales in India increased 2032.2% year-on-year to 6,135 units, Chile, 116.0% to 35,479 units, Thai, 78.9% to 54,388 units, Indonesia, 75.1% to 37,542 units, Brazil, 54.6% to 35,776 units, and Saudi Arabia, 45.9% to 56,626 units.

3. Japan Exports
December

Nissan's exports in December increased 34.1% year-on-year to 76,490 units.

Exports to North America increased 57.3% year-on-year to 49,479 units, due to increased demand for the new Quest and the new Juke.

Exports to Europe increased 37.1% year-on-year to 7,937 units, due to increased demand for models targeting the Russian market.

Calendar Year 2010
Nissan's exports for the year 2010 increased 46.5% year-on-year to 670,957 units.

Exports to North America increased 47.6% year-on-year to 361,353 units, due to increased demand for Rogue.

Exports to Europe saw a significant increase of 98.5% year-on-year to 71,313 units, due to increased demand for X-TRAIL.
