In China, Nissan reported double-digit growth for its passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle businesses in April. Sales by Nissan China and its passenger vehicle businesses – Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Venucia – rose 18.9% from a year earlier to 125,219 vehicles and 19.7% to 103,130 vehicles, respectively. The light commercial vehicle business – Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) – sold 18,583 vehicles, representing an increase of 18.2% from a year earlier.
In the U.S., Nissan Group announced total U.S. sales for April 2018 of 87,764 units, a decrease of 28% compared to the previous year. Nissan highlights include: Nissan LEAF all-electric vehicle sales increased 10% to 1,171 units; and several key models have shown strong gains in 2018 including Rogue (+9%), Armada (+16%) and Frontier (+27%).
INFINITI in the U.S. reported deliveries of 8,960 vehicles during April, down 17%. With its first full month of arriving at INFINITI retailers, the 2019 QX50 contributed to the best April in the luxury crossover’s history, with 1,413 deliveries, up 18%. Benefitting from the increased traffic that the QX50 brought into showrooms, the QX60 7-passenger luxury crossover also saw a large increase in April, up 9% to more than 3,000 deliveries.
In Canada, Nissan Group announced total Canadian sales of 12,198 units for April 2018, an increase of 7.4% and an April record. The Nissan Division also set an April sales record with 11,457 units sold, an increase of 10.9% year-over-year. INFINITI announced April sales of 741 vehicles in Canada, a decrease of 27.4% over the previous year.
