Nissan production, sales and export results for May 2016

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for May 2016.

1. Production
Nissan's global production in May increased 0.4% year-on-year to 435,938 units, the fourth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of May.

Production in Japan decreased 2.5% year-on-year to 65,309 units.

Production outside Japan increased 0.9% year-on-year to 370,629 units, the thirteenth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of May.

In the U.S., production decreased 3.9% year-on-year to 80,439 units.

In Mexico, production decreased 0.8% year-on-year to 69,721 units.

In the U.K., production increased 12.1% year-on-year to 43,175 units.

In Spain, production increased 11.2% year-on-year to 11,877 units.

In China, production decreased 0.8% year-on-year to 100,122 units.

Production in other regions increased 3.2% year-on-year to 65,295 units.

2. Sales
Global sales decreased 2.4% year-on-year to 431,716 units.

Japan:
Sales including mini-vehicles decreased 26.2% year-on-year to 28,678 units.

  • Vehicle registrations increased 0.2% year-on-year to 25,573 units.
  • Mini-vehicle sales decreased 76.8% year-on-year to 3,105 units.

Sales outside Japan decreased 0.1% year-on-year to 403,038 units.

In the U.S., sales decreased 1.0% year-on-year to 133,496 units.

In Mexico, sales increased 8.0% year-on-year to 28,819 units, a record for the month of May.

In Europe, sales decreased 1.1% year-on-year to 59,524 units.

In China, sales increased 3.4% year-on-year to 106,074 units.

Sales in other regions decreased 6.7% year-on-year to 61,813 units.

3. Exports from Japan
Exports in May increased 19.5% year-on-year to 41,321 units, the first increase in six months.
