A few observations from China

Keeping up with the rapid pace of change in the global automotive industry isn't easy. But one of the best ways to understand current trends — and anticipate what's next — is to spend time in the world's largest car market: China. Over the summer, I did just that — traveling to Beijing and Guangzhou to check in on Nissan's local operations, visit with customers and dealers, and see our competitors' efforts firsthand.

As always, China fascinated me. During this trip, I was particularly struck by three observations:

1) The expansion of local auto brands;

2) The growth of the electric vehicle (EV) segment; and

3) The need for adaptive, responsive management in order to stay competitive.
