Nissan production, sales and export results for July 2005

TOKYO (Aug. 26, 2005) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced production, sales and export figures for July.

Production
Global production in July increased 1.6% compared with the same month a year earlier to 278,910 units.

Production in Japan fell 8.7% to 122,575 units due to one less working day compared with last year, as well as the start of local production of the Pathfinder sport utility vehicle in the U.S. and the Navara pickup truck in Spain.

Overseas production in July increased 11.4% to 156,335 units.

In the U.S., output declined 2.7% to 47,384 units due to a decrease in the production of the Altima mid-sized sedan.

In Mexico, production increased 2.1% to 26,623 units.

In Europe, output in the U.K. decreased 4.6% to 30,587 units, while output in Spain grew 32.1% to 20,143 units. Output in Spain was boosted by the start of full-scale production of the new Pathfinder and the new Navara.

Production in general overseas markets (GOM), which exclude Japan, the U.S. and Europe, jumped 73.2% to 31,598 units amid the start of local production of the Teana luxury sedan and the Tiida compact sedan in China.

Sales
Nissan's domestic registrations in July rose 3.9% from a year ago to 70,494 units. The solid performance of new models, such as the revamped Serena minivan released in late May, as well as the Note and Tiida compact cars, contributed to the rise.

Nissan's share of the domestic registered vehicle market in July rose 1.4 percentage points to 20.1%.

Domestic sales, including minicars, for July increased 10.6% to 83,268 units. Nissan's domestic market share of that market grew 1.7 percentage points to 16.1%.

In the U.S., sales increased by 15.0% to 107,300 units in July, a record for that month. Nissan brand sales climbed 16.0% to 93,905 units, boosted by higher sales of the Pathfinder SUV, the Murano crossover SUV and other models. Sales of Nissan's Infiniti luxury brand rose 8.4% to 13,395 units helped by robust sales of the M45 (Fuga in Japan), which went on sale in March.

Sales in Canada in rose 5.7% to 6,622 units but sales in Mexico fell 7.9% to 17,172 units.

In Europe, July sales were up 10.2% to 49,381 units due to the launch of the new Navara pickup truck and the solid performance of the new Pathfinder SUV.

Exports from Japan
Nissan's exports in July declined 19.5% from a year earlier to 55,346 units.

Shipments to North America fell 31.2% to 19,365 units following the start of local production of the Pathfinder at Nissan's vehicle-assembly plant in Smyrna,Tennessee.

Exports to Europe dropped 31.5% to 9,911 units due to a decline in pickup exports accompanying the launch of local production of the new Navara pickup truck in Spain.

Shipments to Latin America grew 24.2% to 6,589 units thanks to robust sales of the Frontier pickup truck.

Exports to Asia fell 39.1% to 5,311 units due to a decline in exports to China.

Exports to the Middle East soared 27.0% to 6,684 units due to the full-scale introduction of the Infiniti luxury brand in that market at the end of last year.
