Nissan production, sales and export results for October 2008

TOKYO (November 27, 2008) - Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd., today announced its sales, production and export results for October 2008.

  1. Production

    Nissan's global production in October decreased 18.3% year-on-year to 278,581 units.

    Domestic production decreased 11.2% year-on-year to 100,096 units despite increased demand for Teana and Note.

    Production outside of Japan decreased 21.8% year-on-year to 178,485 units.

    In the U.S., production decreased 43.9% year-on-year to 42,287 units.

    In Mexico, production decreased 9.1% year-on-year to 46,485 units.

    In the U.K., due to the new Qashqai +2 released in September, production remains at 35,260 units, with 0.5% decrease year-on-year.

    In Spain, production decreased 68.8% year-on-year to 6,835 units.

    Production in the General Overseas Markets (GOM) grew 6.9% year-on-year to 47,618 units due to increased demand for the new Teana and Tiida in China.

  2. Sales

    Global sales decreased 10.2% to 263,853 units compared to the previous year.

    In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations in October decreased 19.6% year-on-year to 31,706 units despite increased demand for the new Murano facelifted in September and Note.
    Nissan's share of the domestic market registrations in October was down 1.0 percentage points year-on-year to 13.6%.

    Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 0.5% from the previous year to 10,095 units.

    Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 41,801 units in Japan, down 15.5% year-on-year. Market share was down 1.2 percentage points year-on-year to 11.0%.

    Nissan sales in the U.S. decreased 33.0% year-on-year to 56,945 units despite strong sales of the new Maxima and the Rogue crossover.

    In Europe, sales decreased 18.8% year-on-year to 40,629 units despite increased demand for the new Teana.

    Sales in the GOM regions were up 18.0% from the previous year to 100,532 units.

  3. Japan Exports

    Nissan's exports in October decreased 3.2% to 66,960 units compared to the previous year.

    Exports to North America decreased 25.1% year-on-year to 24,311 units.

    Exports to Europe increased 26.6% year-on-year to 8,093 units.
    Exports to other regions increased 14.0% year-on-year to 34,556 units mainly due to increased demand in the Middle East.
