GUANGZHOU, China (November 21, 2013) -Nissan today unveiled Teana VIP, a long wheelbase version of the new-generation Teana series, together with Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFL-PV) at Auto Guangzhou 2013. Embodying the long heritage of Nissan, Teana VIP offers a new level of luxury for consumers in China.

Nissan's 40th anniversary in China

Nissan has been celebrating its 40th anniversary in China throughout 2013. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd. (ZNA), Nissan’s light commercial vehicle base in China, and the 10th anniversary of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL), Nissan’s successful joint venture in China.

In 1973, Nissan’s first vehicle, a Cedric, was imported to China, and the ensuing 40 years has seen the company expand its presence in the market and deepen its ties to the country. Today, China is a key market for Nissan, with sales expected to reach 1.27 million units this year.

To celebrate the 2013 memorial year and highlight the Cedric legacy in the new Teana VIP, Nissan will showcase a vintage Cedric, brought from the Nissan Heritage Collection in Japan, at Auto Guangzhou 2013.

“Many customers in China seek a truly high-end luxury sedan,” said Roel De-Vries, Nissan corporate vice president. “To respond to such needs, we developed a long wheelbase version of the new Teana, with the luxury and valued heritage that goes back 40 years to the Cedric, exclusively for the Chinese market.”

Venucia, DFL-PV’s local brand

In addition to Teana VIP, DFL-PV is showcasing the newly launched R50X, the multi-purpose crossover from Venucia. The Venucia R50X is designed to appeal to young people seeking freedom and enjoyment, but with excellent fuel efficiency in mind. Adding the model to the current line-up of D50 (sedan) and R50 (hatchback), sales of Venucia are expected to reach 100,000 units in 2013.
